I'm an attorney, wife, step-mother, and fashion blogger. The legal love of my life is intellectual property law (patents, trademarks, and copyrights). The playing field is dynamic, and new exciting technologies always emerge. It's amazing and so much fun to me. Fashion blogging gives me a creative outlet and a way to express my less professional, more personal side.
I was a total tomboy as a child! Some people see me as a "girly girl," but I was just as rough as my brothers growing up. I broke a leg and big toe playing sports. I burned my hand pretty badly riding a go-cart. I was adventurous, so skinned knees were a regular part of my childhood. Now I've channeled my sporty, more adventurous energy into my role as a litigator.
In the morning I'm all about moisturizing my skin and hair, then preparing for the day ahead with caffeine. Every morning I cleanse my face with Clean & Clear Daily Moisturizer, and I moisturize with Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I also use Palmer's Cocoa Butter on the rest of my skin. It was a staple in my household growing up, and I've never been able to shake the habit. As a black woman with chemically treated hair, babying my ends is a must. I lightly use Agadir's Argan Oil every morning. At night, I'm much lazier about my beauty routine. I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes to clean my face, then I moisturize under my eyes with Neutorogena's Hydro Boost Gel-Cream.
Absolutely! I steam my face regularly to keep the surface of my skin supple and dirt-free. Steaming also helps my skin better absorb moisturizers. I currently use Conair's True Glow Facial Sauna. It's amazing!
Who is your dream coffee date and why?
My dream coffee date is Michelle Obama. Not only is she a fellow attorney, but she's also a fashion maven, an influencer, and a first lady who's made such a difference in the lives of other black women. I have so much respect for her.
If your dreams don't scare you, then you're not dreaming big enough. Take risks. Life is too short not to.
How do you define beauty?
I define beauty based on how something makes me feel - captivated, inspired, or even hopeful. Beauty is all about igniting something internal for the better.
